Interferometric Calorimetry

Interferometric Techniques for Calorimetry
Graduate Investigator: Everardo Flores-Martinez
Summary of Research: Calorimetry is the best approach for establishing absorbed dose to water standards. Current calorimeters use thermistors to measure the slight changes in temperature due to ionizing radiation. The aim of this project is to correlate variations in the refractive index of transparent media with changes in temperature and use them to calculate absorbed dose to water. With a tomographic reconstruction, this approach may allow obtaining 2D or even 3D dose distributions.
