Energy Dependence of TLD100 (LiF:Mg,Ti) Microcubes to Low Energy Photons

Thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLDs) are used to measure absorbed dose from ionizing radiation through their emittance of light. TLDs that are produced with lithium fluoride (LiF) are referred to as TLD-100 and are commonly manufactured with a chip (3.2 mm x 0.9 mm x 0.9 mm) or microcube (1 mm x 1mm x 1 mm) geometry. The emmittance of light, or TLD response depends on the energy of the ionizing radiation, the absorbed dose, as well as the medium the TLD is irradiated. The purpose of this work is to characterize the energy dependence and absorbed dose dependence of TLD-100 microcubes in water and air at low-photon energies in order to compare the findings with those of TLD-100 chips.
