Radiation Monitoring by Mail

Therapy Dose Verification TLD Service

TLDs are used to monitor the dose to areas receiving direct radiation as well as areas that should be shielded from the primary beam. Sets of dose-response Calibration TLDs are included with each set (no charge) which are exposed by the customer to known radiation doses from a single beam energy. These doses bracket the doses expected during the therapy exposures. The dose-response TLD data is used to establish the dose-response to TLD reading through linear regression analysis. Reports are usually completed and emailed to the customer the same day that they are received by the UW TLD Lab. We recommend using more than one chip at each patient site for best statistics. Special Projects TLD Service

The UW RMM can use TLDs for dose measurement in additional radiation environments to the services listed above.  Examples include (but not limited to):  X-ray, HDR and 137Cs. To inquire whether we can assist on a special project or irradiation, please email or call the TLD Lab directly (rmm@uwmrrc.wisc.edu / 608-265-9579).

Radiobiology

The UW radiation monitoring by mail (RMM) services utilized TLDs for radiobiology dose verification measurements. Beam qualities for the verification measurements include (but not limited to): X-ray, HDR and Cs-137.
