X-Ray Metrology Workshop

Three members of the UWADCL traveled to Athens, Greece, for a workshop and meeting on x-ray metrology and calibrations of x-ray multimeters. This week-long workshop and meeting brought together metrologists from National Laboratories, secondary calibration laboratories, and manufacturers, to exchange ideas on x-ray multimeter (XMM) calibrations. XMMs are used by diagnostic medical physicists to perform quality assurance testing on radiography, mammography, and CT units. The participants are all working to implement XMM calibrations in their laboratories, and it is likely that the UWADCL will offer calibrations of these in the near future.  From left to right in the photograph are Ryan Gardner (PhD student), Wesley Culberson (UWADCL director), and Jennifer Hull (engineer and calibrator).
